Customer

KelCar, a car dealership service provider.

Problem

The client teamed up with Softeq to build a client-server mobile app that would enable car buyers and car dealers to close mutually beneficial deals. The app was to enhance the existing solution geared towards car dealers by providing a convenient vehicle selection tool for the buyer side.

Softeq’s service offering stood out for solid mobile and web development background, extensive past project experience similar to the implementation in question, as well as hands-on integration skills. The team demonstrated excellent understanding of the business idea behind the solution and provided a clear roadmap for implementation.

Softeq’s team was to enhance the existing customer’s client-server solution, as well as create from scratch a multiplatform (iOS/Android) mobile app integrating it with the web backend to enable prompt information management.

Solution

The Xamarin-driven app targets potential vehicle buyers and is designed to provide end-to-end purchasing experience — from car selection to finalizing the purchase order.

The app allows the buyer to:

  • Choose a new or a used car
  • Assess trade-in options for an existing car
  • Check for rebates and calculate the final price
  • Check the available payment options
  • Scan the VIN code or driver license
  • Check the insurance options
  • Submit a purchase request
  • Communicate with Sales Managers
  • Generate a worksheet with all the deal pertinent details
  • Finalize the purchase order

The app communicates with the web backend, which has been functionally upgraded to work as a CRM tool enabling sales managers to process buyer requests more efficiently. The web system is integrated with a number of 3rd party solutions, including AIS Rebates, DealerSocket dealer management system, among others.

Since many of the 3rd party systems did not meet the customer’s expectations to the required extent, the team had to do a major solution customization.

Challenge

Since many of the 3rd party systems did not meet the customer’s expectations to the required extent, the team had to do a major solution customization.

Methodology

For managing product development, Softeq’s team employed Scrum, an iterative and incremental agile software development methodology.

Results

The final solution is set to significantly facilitate the car selection process for buyers, while eliminating the stress associated with negotiating the deals and handling the necessary paperwork. At the same time the complete solution will also help dealers close the deals faster thanks to the automated workflows and immediate availability of all the relevant critical information.
