  • Android

The client’s enterprise develops document imaging software products and applications for the transportation industry. This software helps simplify transportation communications and fleet management.

The customer was looking for an outsourced service provider with specific expertise: proficient in Android development, solution refactoring and debugging. Softeq stood out above other candidates thanks to its expertise in the given areas and the diverse portfolio of document and fleet management solutions.

The client needed a fully-fledged and well-functioning Android app, which they could launch on Google Play. The client also wanted to use the solution as a default system for managing transportation documentation on custom proprietary devices. The Android version was expected to enhance the client’s offering to the transportation and fleet management business.

Work Scope

Softeq’s team thoroughly reviewed the code of the app. It helped identify and fix functional and operational inconsistencies by:

  • Completely reskinning the solution
  • Fixing bugs
  • Patching UI and UX
  • Enhancing app’s performance
  • Improving scanning mechanism
  • Integrating analytics tools and third party device’s SDK

The solution is a mobile app and web document capture platform that enables independent drivers and truckload carriers to receive scanned docs directly into their office system as PDF and TIFF files. This way the consigner gets proof of the delivery back from the truck and the carrier can bill for the freight more quickly.

Key Features:
  • Bandwidth friendly: the app generates lightweight files quickly and accurately processed on the phone
  • Cloud-driven: the system syncs with the latest cloud tech, keeping the data readily accessible
  • Easy to manage: dynamic web based management dashboard and API enable to add loads, drivers, and upload CSV files

The solution was supposed to run on a custom Android tablet. That’s why using the target device to carry out proper quality assurance was mandatory. The third party team responsible for delivery of the demo tablet was behind schedule, so Softeq suggested using a similar Android device for testing. The client was fully satisfied with the resulting build.

The team ran a combination of Kanban and iterative software development model. These methods allowed keeping track of the work progress and tuning up the resource allocation to resolve implementation issues ad hoc.

Softeq completed the development on budget and within the defined timeframe. The solution is available for download on Google play and App Store as a no-pay app. Happy with the delivery and eager to offer more valuable features with the app, the client is on a new SOW for Softeq team.
