The solution was aimed at Samsung devices but also had to support other platforms, including Philips, Toshiba, Panasonic, and LG.
The app utilizes capabilities of the Samsung Smart TV platform that integrates Internet and web features in TVs and set-top boxes, as well as provides a way for technological convergence between those TVs and other devices like computers, smartphones and tablets.
The created app provides the following features:
Takes the user through the authorization process and displays a categorized and rated list of movies and TV programs along with their previews/trailers available for watching.
Allows browsing through and watching the video similar to a playlist browsing in a player.
The content is stored on and synced with a server.
When logged in, a user can purchase a video of their choice using the credit card bound to the account.
The app has been approved by Samsung for being listed in its Smart TV application category right from the first submission.
Softeq also helped the client port the app to such major Smart TV platforms as Philips, Toshiba, Panasonic, and LG.
