A leading software and services company specializing in e-Government solutions.

Problem

The client required a service provider with a strong foothold in complex solutions architecture design, business process automation, re-usable components development and integration, as well as software product development. Besides, the provider also had to possess proven experience of working in a globally distributed project environment, capable of operating as an extension of the customer’s existing on-site team.

The customer markets a proprietary software product designed to aid attorneys and litigants in filing cases to the courts in their respective jurisdictions, as well as automating case intake and processing by the courts and agencies.

The product required a technological upgrade and the existing functionality improvements along with new features development to enable more efficient case flow compliant with the currently effective federal court practices and procedures. The product was expected to provide users with a more convenient way of submitting an application to the target court by verifying the filled form before submission and assembling it into a case afterwards, while providing an optimized case management process for the courts and agencies.

Software architecture

To be able to deal with the ongoing project assignments and ensure the long-term goals completion (e.g. entire system re-engineering), the team first of all had to deal with such strategic issues as poorly documented legacy system and undefined vision of the future solution architecture. To address these problems, Softeq conducted a comprehensive research resulting in a detailed overview of the legacy system and elaborated a plan for infrastructure and development environment overhaul.
